Knowing Him Deeply
Devotional:
Knowing about Jesus is not the same as truly knowing Jesus. In this passage, Jesus challenges His disciples to move beyond secondhand information and develop a personal, intimate understanding of His identity. Peter's declaration wasn't a rehearsed response but a profound revelation born of personal relationship.
Many people have opinions about Jesus - some see Him as a historical figure, others as a moral teacher, and some as a distant concept. But knowing Christ is about relationship, not merely information. It's about experiencing His transformative power, understanding His heart, and allowing His character to reshape our own.
Today's devotional invites you to go deeper. Move beyond surface-level knowledge and pursue an intimate, personal connection with Christ. What does it mean to truly know Him?
Scripture:
Matthew 16:15-16 - "He said to them, 'But who do you say that I am?' Simon Peter answered, 'You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.'"
Prayer:
Father, I want to know Jesus not just in theory, but in reality. Open the eyes of my heart. Help me to see beyond the stories and truly encounter your Son in a transformative, personal way.
Call to Action:
Watch a sermon or listen to a teaching that explores Christ's character in depth. Journal three specific ways you can deepen your understanding of Jesus this week. Consider studying one of the Gospels with fresh eyes, asking God to reveal something new about Jesus's nature.
It’s a blessing to have Christ friendship and his Lordship and his Fatherhood!
